Our Values

At Midwest Transplant Network, our core values are B-REAL – Belonging, Respect, Excellence, Accountability and Leadership. As a team, we live these values everyday, fostering a work environment we are all proud to celebrate. We also believe in recognizing our employees for embracing and exemplifying our values with our B-REAL awards. B-REAL winners, like the ones shown below, are nominated by their peers for outstanding performance in the B-REAL categories.

Belonging

We believe in creating a culture where all employees feel safe and genuine at work. We value the importance of seeking to understand beliefs, values and opinions that are new or different from our own. Diverse perspectives make our team stronger as we serve our mission.

Jessie Parker (Donation Services Shift Leader)

Jessie has been an exceptional co-worker for many years, helping out in any way she can. She has now been promoted to Shift Lead/AOC and does a phenomenal job of delegating what needs to be done with her co-workers to make sure everything is done in a timely matter. She’s a great listener and problem solver and also takes our input into consideration. Just an overall great leader and team player. She makes our shift run like a well-oiled machine. Thank you Jessie for all you do!” – Nominated by Kristin J.

Respect

Our team members have built a strong foundation of support and compassion. We foster a sensitive and accepting environment that promotes honest communication, active listening and a deep sense of trust. By embracing our differences and sharing our strengths, we promote individual empowerment and team rapport.

Eric Brashear (OPC)

Eric is consistently positive, engaged, and willing to help. He often reaches out when he thinks he may be needed and will let us know that he’s just a call away and ready to come on-site. He cares for our patients with dignity and is always compassionate when working with their families. I am grateful for the times Eric has stepped into the FSC role and helped a family get memorial items or their questions answered. He doesn’t complain and graciously does what needs to be done. He is encouraging and a great teammate to be with, no matter what is going on. I have especially been impressed with Eric this past year as he has remained positive when faced with staffing and caseload challenges. He has grown to be a leader whom I respect greatly!” – Nominated by Abby P.

Excellence

We attain a high rate of achievement and success for our organization by meeting and exceeding proactive goals that we set together, centered on the overall mission and vision of Midwest Transplant Network. Our employees elevate and challenge each other, setting a positive tone as we strive for the highest standards. Collaboration is key to continuous growth and finding workable solutions that benefit our teams and partners.

Alex Zorn (Network Administrator)

When the Information Security Specialist role went vacant, Alex accepted temporary support for it on behalf of the team. During this 1.5 year time period, Alex monitored incidents and implemented major software solutions all while providing support in a 24/7 operation. All in all, Alex has responded to over 3,500 incidents while supporting this additional role.

Alex is always there for our customers and our IT team. He enjoys troubleshooting the challenging situations and sharing his knowledge with our other IT Team members. With the project work and troubleshooting issues, this often takes hours of research and testing to identify the appropriate solution. Alex also works with a customer-first approach. He’s personable and provides quality service!” – Nominated by Nancy H.

Accountability

We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards, always interacting with honesty and transparency. As we are answerable for our actions and those of our teams, we honor our commitments to each other and our professional partners. We take ownership of the organization’s mission with personal responsibility, integrity and resourcefulness.

Abby Pratt (FSC III)

The FSC team is filled with the kindest and most compassionate humans I’ve ever met but I have decided to specifically recognize Abby. While I feel all of these categories apply to who she is and the quality of her work, I selected “Accountability” as I feel Abby leads by example in this area. She holds herself accountable to a standard of excellence while serving our donor heroes and their families. I admire the servant-leadership style she brings to her work. Abby also hosts our “FSC Development” meetings which serves as a resource for newer FSC’s to share and debrief. This space she has created greatly helps our team. Thank you for all you do!! & thank you to the entire team for your service to our community and for helping me be a better me every day.” – Nominated by Alex K.

Leadership

Our leaders offer meaningful feedback and support to mentor and encourage their teammates. We cultivate relationships and strengthen teams with effective, professional communication, and by providing the tools and resources to help others reach their highest potential. Leadership sets the example for the entire team with their dedicated work ethic and their respectful personal interactions.

Jamie Dickerson (Organ Referral Specialist)

Jamie was such a great mentor to me when I started. She helped me learn by giving me all her resources and knowledge as well as giving me feedback throughout my onboarding. Once I moved to my shift of nights, she still checked in frequently with me to see how things were going and always made sure I felt like I could reach out to her whenever for help. Such a great mentor, and such a sweet person!! ” – Nominated by Tara C.
